RTÉ’s Tracks & Trails Takes Wonderful County Wexford 2021

Returning for a 9th series, RTÉ’s Tracks & Trails is back on our screens this summer to share some of Ireland’s beautiful walks, hikes and cycling tracks on newly developed, less travelled routes that await adventure. After a two year break, this series brings a group of presenters together and ready to be challenged on foot and bike through a variety of breathtaking trails. From a variety of peaceful paths to seemingly steep yet rewarding trails through some of the Emerald Isle’s hills and mountains, this series is bound to give every trailblazer a fire in their stomach to get out and get active while exploring our beautiful County Wexford.

This series will see travel expert and TV presenter Pól O’Conghaile take his audience through County Wexford’s ancient paths, discovering the history around Ferrycarrig and taking in the most magical beaches and boreens in Rosslare. These two features will be broken into two episodes; episodes 4 and 5 in the series.

Showcasing the beauty seen through every route and trail that escapades our great island, Tracks & Trails invites those near and far to join them as they get outside, enjoy the great outdoors, and take in the beauty around us. Meeting some wonderful and fascinating guests along the way, Pól will discuss their stance as hikers and outdoor-lovers, exploring how health and well-being benefits stem from being in the great outdoors and grasping an enthusiastic mindset as they embrace nature.

With hiking, outdoor trail walking and cycling becoming an ever-growing trend among wide demographics of outdoor trail lovers, the programme aims to entice viewers to encourage those of all ages to get out, explore and find enthusiasm in what we call mother nature. Following routes like mountains, hills, rail trails, and so on around lakes and forests, Pól will show viewers how they can tackle some ‘lung-busting climbs, gentle forest paths, easy cycles or adrenaline-raising bike trails‘.

‘Every trail that is featured can be adapted in length and difficulty to suit all ages, which can be completed in a day or better still over a long weekend. The main message to all those who have recently started hiking or those seasoned walkers and cyclists who are planning their routes again is to just ‘get out there’. These trails also will give some inspiration to people to try places or routes that they haven’t considered before and to discover they are closer than we think.’
