This year we welcomed our Visit Wexford Family Competition 2021 winners to Wexford to stay. Arel Kavanagh and her lovely family spent 4 nights in County Wexford between two fabulous hotels and many superb family attractions that allowed Arel, her partner and her little ones to make new #WexfordMemores. Maldron Hotel

Arel and her family stayed in the Maldron Hotel Wexford for 2 Nights B&B

Arel says: The Maldron Hotel Wexford provided our family with a double room which had plenty of space and a huge balcony. There were gorgeous Anyah products like hand wash and shampoo on display which I was very impressed with. The shower also had a moveable shower head along with the fixed shower head which is extremely useful when bathing our kids. Our room was on the 4th floor but we never had to wait for a lift which is a big plus. The pool was warm and sectioned off to allow for families/groups to socially distance themselves. Attentive staff who were eager to please made our stay a very pleasant one.

Johnstown Castle Estate and Gardens

This was our favourite part of our trip to Wexford. We were lucky enough to have great weather on our side during the trip and so we had a picnic on the grass by the stunning Johnstown Castle. Pretty peacocks walked around the grounds and you can hear them call occasionally. The lower lake walk was amazing with lots of wildlife to be seen. There is a large playground which was a big hit with the kids and had lots of seating for the adults. Johnstown Castle Estate is absolutely beautiful and we will definitely be returning in the future. 

 

 

LeisureMax

My son had never been bowling before and LeisureMax did not disappoint. There was a great atmosphere and staff were very friendly and meticulous with sanitising the bowling balls, chairs, arcade games, etc. LeisureMax is a well-organised and well-run premise. The pizzas and chips we got were tasty and arrived right on time as we finished off our game.

 

Day 3 & 4

Brandon House Hotel

Arel and her family stayed in the Brandon House Hotel for another 2 Nights B&B 

Arel says: The Brandon House Hotel is in a gorgeous secluded location. There’s seating outside where we enjoyed food and drinks in the sun. There’s also a lovely walking trail with fairy doors opposite the entrance to the hotel which the kids loved. The interior decor in the reception and in the bar and restaurant is very tastefully done. We didn’t get a chance to visit the Solas Croí Spa but it looked beautiful. Food was of a high standard and staff couldn’t do enough for us.

Hook Lighthouse 

We visited Hook Lighthouse towards the end of our trip and it was very interesting. The tour guide was so friendly, very knowledgeable and passionate about their job which is lovely to see. There’s a wooden ship for kids to play on which is a great idea and very popular. We enjoyed food from the café which you order at the brightly coloured trailer and there’s plenty of picnic tables for everyone.

 

 

Arel’s farewell to Wexford:

My family and I really enjoyed our holiday in Wexford and have a lot of new recommendations for friends and family. We also visited Secret Valley Wildlife Park and Dunbrody Abbey on our trip. Thank you!
