Karoo Farm Shop and Café is another quaint farm-to-table type of café amongst Wexford’s dining scene that has become known for its support of artisan products from local growers, bakers and suppliers. Specialising in French-style food, you’ll find coffee and cake at any time of day, with a sumptuous selection of home-baked breads, goodies and tarts, and speciality gluten-free treats.
D’lush café
The focus at D’lush is on fresh, organic and free-range produce, so you can expect to satisfy your sweet tooth and your healthy conscience at the same time! The menu offers scones, bagels, crêpes, wraps, sandwiches, and daily specials; often gluten-free or made from Spelt flour. Add to that their ethically-sourced, freshly ground Blue Earth Organic coffee beans from Java Republic, and it’s safe to say this is a feel-good treat for all the right reasons.
The Red Kettle is a cosy and intimate family-owned café and a busy favourite amongst locals, who come here for kiddies pancakes and a good brew of tea. Homely and welcoming, just like its menu, with biscuits on the counter, and home-made apple tart to name a few of their scrumptious desserts at reasonable prices.
Stable Diet Café
Stable Diet’s motto ‘Nature knows best’ sums up their philosophy to use only the finest ingredients, without any additives or preservatives. Stable Diet Café serves traditional, wheat-free products that are high in demand, including an enormous range of flapjacks, scones and cakes such as their original carrot cake, chocolate fudge, coffee and pecan and whiskey tea brack to name a few. Enjoy these treats at leisure or take some products home from the retail section which sells a range of wheat-free granolas and breakfast cereals, sauces, chutneys, cookies, cakes and jam. If you pass here for breakfast, don’t pass up chef’s French toast with crispy bacon and maple syrup!
Tintern Abbey Tea Room
The quaint tea rooms at the historic Tintern Abbey is an ideal spot for a warming cuppa and a slice of home-made cake, following a walk around the ruins or a ramble amongst the woodland trails. The fruit is homegrown in the walled garden and the varied menu of sweet treats are as beautifully presented as the scenery beyond! An all-round excellent option for afternoon tea in a beautiful countryside setting.
The Pantry
The detail and care that has gone into the crockery, décor, staff and menu at The Pantry is nothing short of exceptional. This vintage café offers sumptuous sweet treats, and a range of coffees to wash them down with. Afternoon tea comes in the form of a China plate adorned with brown breads, and traditional scones served with whipped Wexford cream and a selection of delicious cakes & tray bakes, whilst their counter cakes have become so popular that the café now specialises in spectacular, themed dessert tables for special occasions!
