Wexford Macra Jive Fest

Macra na Feirme has played a pivotal role in Wexford, particularly in rural Wexford, since 1949. It has a 

history of advocating for, nurturing and developing young people between the ages of 17 and 40 in a fun, 

inclusive and supportive environment. Many will have parents and grandparents who speak very fondly of 

their memories in Macra. The community of Wexford has always been very supportive of Macra and we are 

sincerely grateful for that support. Wexford Macra consists of six active clubs: Blackstairs Macra, Bree Macra,

Camolin Macra, Kilmuckridge Macra, Kilrush/Askamore/Ferns Macra and Ramsgrange Macra.

In 2025 we held our inaugural Wexford Macra All-Ireland Jiving competition. The event was a major success 

and attracted competitors and attendees from all four corners of Ireland. Last year’s event had upwards of 

400 people in attendance and based on this success and support from the local & wider community, we are 

planning a bigger and better event for 2026!

The Jiving festival will be a weekend long event, taking place on September 25th & 26th 2026, held in the 

Ashdown Park Hotel in Gorey. Friday evening will see three well known Irish country music favourites take 

to the stage, Theresa & the Stars, Sinead Black, and Adrian Ryan. Saturday will see our nationwide jiving 

competition take place, in addition to performances from some more country music household names: Allister 

Fingleton, Lauren McCrory, Alex Rowe, and David James guaranteed to keep everybody on their feet all 

weekend! It promises to be a fun-filled weekend packed with dancing, entertainment and socializing for all 

ages.
