The Winning Post Curracloe Beach
Coolrainey, County Wexford, Y21 PD60, Ireland
The Winning Post was founded on Curracloe beach as a small beach shop in 1946. Over years it has grown and developed in to an iconic center of activity on Curracloe Beach (location for Spielberg’s epic war drama Saving Private Ryan, and Brooklyn).
Sitting at the foot of “white gap” The Winning Post plays host to an abundance of amenities and activities when visiting Curracloe.
Tobyco Amusements facilitate a family entertainment center with amusements & kiddies rides and also a poker and slots room for adults. The front beach shop is still open and running since 1946 supplying beach goers with great ice cream, hot food and snacks.
New additions to The Winning Post include “The Surf Shack” surf school / adventure shop & café to the side of the building closest the beach and a “Saving Private Ryan” visitor center.
Events are ongoing throughout the year and The Winning Post & Curracloe Beach host an array of different sporting, music and film events each year. Some of which include: The annual Saving Private Ryan re-enactment June 29th, The Curracloe Sandfest (adventure sports festival) and the IWS Surf Lifesaving Nationals.
Nature walks and trails can be found throughout the Curracloe beach & Raven forest area also. Information is available from The Winning Post & The Surf Shack and the Wexford County Council operate guided nature tours during the summer months.
