The Makers House One Year On

It’s hard to believe that The Makers House opened its doors on the Crescent Quay just as the curtains opened on Wexford Festival Opera last year!  What an amazing year they’ve had in their stunning new home on Wexford Quayfront.

Celebrating the very best of Wexford art, craft and design the Makers have put together new collections and designs for this year’s festival adding to their already impressive collection of locally made art, craft and design .

The place is brimming with beautiful creations from the hands of eleven talented Wexford artists and craftspeople with a stunning range of high quality art and craft: candles, cards, ceramics, gold leaf work, jewellery, knitwear, paintings, print, silver,  handmade soaps and woodturning.

Woodturner John Sinnott’s inspiration comes from the wood itself.  As he begins to turn it, the natural colour and grain are revealed.  His bowls are food safe and would make a wonderful feature on your Christmas table.

A love of animals inspires Emily Stamp’s distinctive style using watercolours to create strikingly colourful and characterful animals designed to make you smile.

Kosy designs by Simone Wagner are classic and timeless. Beautiful knitted garments using soft merino wool from the Mills of Donegal which come in an amazing range of colours inspired by the Irish landscape.

Linda Garnett of Three Moon Candles creates candles that empower and support mindfulness, spiritual growth, and healing all carefully crafted with love and intention.

Inspired by the landscape and ever changing seas and skies Mairead Stafford makes ceramic stargazers, houses full of dreams, butterflies, wild blossom vases, bowls filled with imagination and a little bit of magic!

Beautiful handcrafted jewellery by Annette Byrne of Julsuluv designed to empower you, help you feel good and uplift you too. Inspired by the stunning colours and properties of precious stones.

Mary Wallace works to an exciting scale which is magnified by her vibrant use of colour paired with pure gold. Her paintings have a mesmerising quality that draws you in bringing emotion to the surface.

Agota Gilbride of Timéa creates silver jewellery lovingly handcrafted using knitting, crocheting and traditional silversmithing techniques – her designs are where silver artistry meets soulful connection.

Emma Phillips paints animals and birds. Each animal represents a moment of stillness, a breath, a silent conversation with the wild. Nature has a way of showing up with gentle power — reminding us we’re never really alone.

Jackie Mitchell paints the ever-changing light and movement in water. She is drawn to the weathered beauty of authentic fishing vessels; contrasts between solidity and fluidity; how boats, reflections and surrounding elements change with time and tide.

Lucy’s Kitchen Crafts creates handmade, deliciously scented, colourful and characterful soaps using quality ingredients and creative expression. The resulting soaps are functional, beautiful and feature Wexford puffins, Hook lighthouse and more.

It is sure to be a hive of creative energy.
