Retro Con Wexford Announces Spectacular First-Year Guest Line-Up

The Biggest Little Convention in Ireland

WEXFORD, IRELAND – Excitement is building for the inaugural Retro Con Wexford, proudly billed as “The Biggest Little Convention in Ireland.” Taking place on 29th & 30th August at the Whites of Wexford Hotel, Retro Con is also set to become the largest pop culture convention in the South East of Ireland, bringing together a spectacular mix of celebrity guests, exhibitors, entertainment and family attractions under one roof.

Supported by Wexford County Council and Visit Wexford, Retro Con Wexford is set to become one of the South East’s most exciting new family events, celebrating classic film, television, gaming, comics and pop culture while attracting visitors from across Ireland and beyond.

For its very first year, Retro Con Wexford is bringing together an incredible collection of beloved television and film stars, offering fans a unique opportunity to meet some of the biggest names from classic entertainment in an intimate and welcoming convention atmosphere.

Leading the line-up is Diane Youdale, forever remembered as the iconic Jet from the original Gladiators. One of the most recognisable faces of 1990s television, Diane became a household name thanks to her athletic ability, charisma and enduring popularity. Her appearance at Retro Con Wexford marks her first-ever convention appearance in Ireland, making it a truly special occasion for Irish fans who have waited decades for the opportunity to meet the legendary Gladiator.

Joining Diane is Julie Dawn Cole, best known around the world for her unforgettable role as Veruca Salt in the beloved 1971 classic Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Julie has delighted generations of fans through one of cinema’s most treasured family films and remains one of the most popular guests on the convention circuit. Her appearance offers fans the chance to celebrate one of the most iconic family films ever made.

Retro Con Wexford is also thrilled to welcome three stars from the legendary BBC comedy series ‘Allo ‘Allo!: Guy SinerRichard Gibson, and Kim Hartman, giving fans a rare opportunity to meet cast members from one of Britain’s most successful sitcoms.

Guy Siner is instantly recognisable for his portrayal of Lieutenant Hubert Gruber, whose unforgettable humour and comic timing made him one of the series’ most beloved characters. Richard Gibson became famous as the wonderfully sinister Herr Otto Flick, the deadpan Gestapo officer whose hilarious performances made him one of the show’s standout stars. Kim Hartman, who portrayed Private Helga Geerhart, completed one of television’s most memorable comedy casts with her unforgettable performance throughout the series.

Retro Con Wexford is especially proud that Guy Siner, Richard Gibson and Kim Hartman will all be making their first-ever appearances at an Irish convention, while Diane Youdale also makes her long-awaited Irish convention debut, making Retro Con Wexford the first event in Ireland to welcome these four television icons.

Adding to the excitement, the ‘Allo ‘Allo! stars will be appearing throughout the weekend in their famous on-screen costumes, giving fans a rare opportunity to meet, chat with and photograph the actors as the characters that made them television legends.

As one of the highlights of the weekend, on Sunday afternoon Guy, Richard and Kim will reunite on stage for an exclusive live interview hosted by the Retro Con team. Fans can look forward to an entertaining and nostalgic conversation as the cast share behind-the-scenes stories, memories from filming one of Britain’s greatest sitcoms and reflections on their careers. The audience will also have the opportunity to take part in a live Q&A session, asking questions directly to the stars in what promises to be one of the standout events of the convention.

Beyond its celebrity guests, Retro Con Wexford will feature more than 35 vendors travelling from all over Ireland, bringing an incredible selection of retro toys, comics, collectibles, artwork, games, movie memorabilia, pop culture merchandise and unique handmade creations. Whether you’re a serious collector or simply looking for that nostalgic item from your childhood, there will be something for everyone to discover.

From the very beginning, the organisers had one clear vision: to create a convention that truly crosses generations.

“We didn’t want to create an event that appealed to just one age group,” said the organisers. “Our goal was to build a convention where grandparents, parents and children could all enjoy the same experience together. Whether your memories are of Gladiators, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory‘Allo ‘Allo!retro gaming, classic movies, comics or modern pop culture, there’s something here for every generation. We wanted Retro Con Wexford to be a true family event where lifelong memories can be made together.”

Visitors can enjoy autograph sessions, professional photo opportunities, live celebrity interviews, audience Q&A sessions, cosplay competitions, retro gaming, artists, traders, movie and television memorabilia, collectibles and entertainment throughout the weekend, making Retro Con Wexford one of the most diverse pop culture events to debut in Ireland.

The organisers are delighted to have the backing of Wexford County Council and Visit Wexford, whose support recognises the potential of Retro Con Wexford to become an annual event that attracts visitors, showcases County Wexford and contributes to the region’s vibrant tourism and events calendar.

With an outstanding guest line-up, exclusive first-time Irish convention appearances, more than 35 vendors from across Ireland, and a welcoming atmosphere for visitors of every age, Retro Con Wexford is set to make an unforgettable debut as the largest pop culture convention in the South East of Ireland and establish itself as one of Ireland’s premier family pop culture events.
