Children’s Art Exhibition – Free Event
There was great excitement at The Makers House last Saturday as a number of young artists gathered to see their work hanging in a professional gallery space – The Raven’s Nest Gallery. Ranging in age from 12 years to a surprising 3 years old!
This is the second year running that The Makers House have invited families to take part in National Drawing Day followed by a special exhibition.
“We have a tremendous natural facility on Wexford quay with such a fabulous panoramic setting for a drawing event. This year the children were fascinated by the maritime themed mosaics and several of them created beautiful colourful wax rubbings. “- said Mary Wallace who organised the event. “Children are so excited to see their artwork in an exhibition space too”
The exhibition includes the original pencil and crayon drawings made on National Drawing Day a few weeks ago. Long since washed away there is also a photographic record of fabulous chalk drawings made on the pavement. These large scale prints truly capture the fun and excitement of creating life size drawings of themselves and family members.
