Forth Mountain Walking Trail

Forth Mountain Walk, R733, Skeaterpark, County Wexford, Ireland

Forth Mountain Walking Trail is located just a few kilometres from Wexford Town.

Forth Mountain is a rock outcrop rising to a height of 780 feet (235m). No other mountain in Ireland can boast of 500-600 million-year-old rock, a pivotal location in the 1798 Rebellion, the remains of houses built in the early 1900s, a grotto, and a climb of almost 235m!

The start of the trail at Skeaterpark  (the New Line car park) is very steep. Pass Carrigatinna Rock on your right, one of many Cambrian quartzite mounds. Further on, the trail divides. Turning right takes you out to Skeater Rock. Here, panoramic views of the Wexford coastline take in Rosslare across to the Waterford estuary. Look for Our Lady’s Island, the Saltee Islands, Hook Head Lighthouse, Dunmore East and the Comeragh Mountains

In Pennylands, delightful viewing points include the Grotto and another near Clourane.

The Tincurra trails are a gentler gradient. Enjoy the picturesque views of Barntown, the Blackstairs Mountains and the west of county Wexford as you follow the trail downhill.
