Culture Night Wexford 2025: A Celebration You Can’t Miss

Mark your calendars, Culture Night is back on Friday, 19 September and Wexford is ready to shine. Culture Night / Oíche Chultúir is a national celebration of all the wonderful aspects that make up Ireland’s culture. This annual event, taking place on the second last Friday of September, connects people to their culture through both national and local creative movements.  

For one unforgettable night, towns and villages across the county will throw open their doors, offering music, art, storytelling, and performances that bring Ireland’s culture to life. A Tronie Life Drawing Session – Gorey  

18:30-21:30 

Join Gorey Art Collective in their studios for a unique and creative experience a Tronie Life Drawing session! 

“What’s a Tronie Life Drawing Session?” you might find yourself asking. Originating from the Dutch word for “face,” a Tronie captures expressive and exaggerated facial features.  

This creative event in Gorey welcomes all ages and skill levels. With all materials provided, all you need to bring is an open mind and your imagination. Two artists will be on hand to share tips and friendly guidance, helping everyone connect with the craft and make the most of the night. 

 

Cluster Funk – Wexford Town 

22:30-23:45 

Wexford Town will play host to Cluster Funk, a band perform jazz and groove music by artists including Thundercat, Norah Jones, Andre 3000, and many more. 

Stop by to see some familiar faces, such as Sophia Zipoli has recently performed headline shows at the Johnstown Jazz Festival and for UNESCO International Jazz Day 2024. She’ll be joined by Chris Colloton, Kaelan Zipoli, and Meg Lowney.

 

 

Guided Tours At The Hook Lighthouse 

Hook Lighthouse is celebrating its ancient maritime heritage and culture by offering free guided tours on National Culture Night This fantastic event offers everyone the chance to step back in time and visit the world’s oldest working lighthouse. First established as beacon in the 6th century, then built into a great tower by ‘greatest knight that ever lived’, Hook Lighthouse has a rich history that everyone should come and explore. Free Guided Tours will run at 4 pm, 4.30 pm and 5 pm (each tour is 30 minutes).

 

 

Danescastle Music Group – New Ross 

18:00-19:00 

Danescastle Music Group will be performing in the New Ross Library for Culture Night. Established in the late 1970s by Martha Torpey and John Marshall, this award-winning group has gone from strength to strength since its inception. Visit New Ross for a riveting performance that everyone is sure to enjoy.  

 

Enniscorthy Community Allotments 

18:30-20:30 

Come celebrate the richness and beauty of our diverse community through a vibrant evening of culture at the Enniscorthy Allotments. Featuring music from around the world, storytelling and poetry from different cultures, delicious international dishes, dance & colour. 

 

Painting Our Coastline with Caroline Bergin Art – Gorey 

19:00-20:30 

Celebrate the beauty of North Wexford’s beaches with a guided acrylic painting session on canvas. Working from a local coastal reference, participants will be led through the process of capturing the scene, no experience necessary! 

Filling The Well Rosslare  

18:00-21:00 

Rosslare is set to host a special cultural celebration at the Coast Hotel, including a candlelit procession to the historic St. Brioc’s Well.  

The community will come together to partake in a “Song Share”: an incredible blend of traditional Irish melodies and international music. Everyone is welcome to participate in performances, share cultural traditions, or simply enjoy this wonderful event.  

This is a free event with refreshments provided. Rain or shine – indoor cultural promenade experience available at Coast Hotel Rosslare. Numbers are limited, so free tickets will be available via Eventbrite.
