Butlerstown Castle Cottages

Butlerstown Castle Cottages, Butlerstown, Tomhaggard, County Wexford, Ireland

Bagenal Harvey and Boxwell Cottages are located in the beautiful and peaceful grounds of Butlerstown Castle, possibly the best-preserved 16th century tower house in the sunny South East of Ireland.

There is a long front avenue decorated with trees, leading up to the 18th century house and two cottages.

The whole property is set on a 100 acre farm with grazing animals. Butlerstown has been in the ownership of Anna Skrine-Brunton’s family for many generations.

Each cottage sleeps 7 people in 3 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms (one en-suite) with what are often described as “the most comfortable beds I have slept in!”.

The cottages are in what was formerly a 17th century cowshed. They are beautifully refurbished in a traditional style. Each cottage has an open wood-fire in the sitting room.

Bagenal Harvey cottage has a large sitting-room, perfect for large family gatherings. There is a beautiful lavender garden on one side and an organic herb garden on the other.

Pet donkeys and sheep reside in a field beside the cottages. Feel free to feed them carrots or apples!

We are just 1 km from the coast with stunning local beaches within short driving distance. There are a variety of excellent restaurants and activities nearby too. Each cottage has an array of information booklets within to help assist you on how to best spend your stay.

There are also places of great natural and wild-life beauty such as Tacumshin lake, and the world-heritage Saltee Islands which are accessed from Kilmore Quay.
