ART IN THE OPEN
Join us for the 19th annual Art in the Open painting festival—Ireland and Europe’s premier plein air event. Enjoy seven days of painting across a variety of stunning locations, with a different venue each day. Artists are invited to capture rural, coastal, and urban landscapes, from castles and abbeys to fishing harbours, fields, and villages.
The festival will open in Wexford town and travel throughout Ireland’s Ancient East, incl. the iconic Hook Head, Cahore Beach & Harbour, Artramon House & Estate, Ballyhack & Passage East and the stunning village of Inistioge. https://www.artintheopen.org/venues26
A return coach service is available daily for those who wish to avail.
The festival also offers optional workshops with world-class artists, along with talks, presentations, and social events. The week culminates in a major exhibition and awards ceremony at Green Acres Gallery on the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Art in the Open attracts artists from around the world, many of whom return year after year to the Sunny South East for Europe’s largest outdoor painting festival.
Even if you’re not participating, you’re very welcome to come along, watch the creative process, and meet the artists.
We also host our annual charity Quick Draw—a lively, two-hour timed paint-out held in Wexford town over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Everyone is welcome to take part. After the street-side exhibition and judging, the artwork is available to purchase directly from the easel at very keen prices. This year our charity partner is Wexford Special Olympics.
We also offer you the chance to get first dibs at the gala exhibition by joining our Festival Friends with a Preview ticket, see the attached link. https://www.artintheopen.org/preview
