ART IN THE OPEN
Art In The Open is the largest and most prestigious plein air painting festival in Europe. Now in its 12th year, the festival which has grown to a 10-day internationally recognized event with 200 artists taking part. It attracts some of the best outdoor painters from around the globe. Renowned for its friendliness and relaxed atmosphere, our participants can be seen painting the wonderful Sunny South-East’s landscapes leading up to the exhibition on the August bank-holiday weekend. The event is open to everybody on payment of a registration fee. Click here to register.
Registration will entitle participants to attend all or some of the seven paint out days at beautiful pre-selected locations, exhibit at the festival and be eligible for festival awards.
Registered artists will also be able to avail of the following: •Masterclass Workshops •The Paint Out Bus bringing you and your gear to and from all locations •Tickets to our Annual Social and Music Night •Tickets to Lectures and Presentations.
We have some splendid locations to paint in;
• A large coastal town founded by Vikings. • A fishing village with traditional thatched cottages and a beach. • A Victorian tudor gothic country house and museum. • A riverside town with barges and a Cistercian Abbey. • A 13th century Cistercian Abbey with restored walled garden.
• A country house with a visitor centre, a museum, tea room, picture gallery and old farming equipment.
One of the highlights of each festival is the timed Quick Draw event held on the Bank Holiday Saturday and this year, all funds raised will go to “It’s Good 2 Talk”
AITO has always invited the best global plein air painters to tutor and our 12th festival is no exception.
