6th Birthday Celebrations at Loftus Hall – Sunday, July 15th
Loftus Hall, Hook Head, New Ross, County Wexford, Ireland
Although Loftus Hall on Wexford’s Hook Peninsula has clocked up an impressive 668 years of mystery, intrigue and its fair share of scares, July 15th is cause for a birthday celebration.
In 2012, the Quigley family bought the imposing mansion which had stood in a rather sorry and dilapidated state and opened it to the public on Friday the 13th of July for the first time in over 20 years.
To celebrate the resurrection of this renowned building Loftus Hall will hold a family fun day with free entry to the
newly restored walled gardens on Sunday, July 15th from 1pm to 6pm.
In the six years since the house has been under the tenure of the family, the grounds have been restored to their former 17th century glory, an interactive visitor centre has been added, a bustling café and BBQ area serve tasty dishes and the guided tours regale the dark and compelling story of the Tottenham family.
The birthday celebrations will feature lots of fun family friendly events including the whacky circus collective “Ravishing Rapella’s Magnificently Misfit Circus.” These denizens of delusion, Victorian vim and vibrancy will bring their sensational antics to Loftus Hall and are guaranteed to thrill and delight.
According to owner Aidan Quigley it’s been an exciting time at Loftus Hall. “When we bought the house in 2012 it had stood derelict and unloved for over 20 years. However, it wasn’t our intention to make any radical changes to the house itself. We have, instead, preserved it, thus preserving the mystique and enigma surrounding the legend of Loftus Hall.”
“Our big challenge was restoring the five acre walled garden and with a lot of research, perseverance and the amazing skills of our Head Gardener, Barbara Kelly, the grounds are outstanding and now feature a Victorian water feature garden and Parterre garden. We’ve also added luxurious yurts and camping pods, so people can be part of the true Loftus Hall experience at night.”
“We’re delighted to celebrate our sixth birthday with the public who have shown us great support since we took on the house in 2012. Although the house is synonymous with the legend of the mysterious dark stranger it has so much more to offer, with beautiful gardens, and a breathtaking backdrop. And as part of Ireland’s Ancient East, the Hook Peninsula is punching well above its weight and the visitors to our little piece of heaven in the South East leave with no doubt in their minds that the Hook Peninsula really does have something unique to offer.”
Loftus Hall’s 6th Birthday celebrations take place on Sunday, July 15th from 1pm to 6pm. To find out more about Loftus Hall and the events taking place throughout the year visit or call 051 397728.
