Day 1: From Arthurstown to Brandon House — Paint, History & Hospitality

Your Wexford adventure begins in the charming coastal village of Arthurstown, a picturesque starting point for any cycling trip. From there, pedal 4km along the shoreline to Duncannon, where you can take in the striking lighthouse and historic fort - both of which became subjects in Timmy’s ever-growing travel sketchbook, blending history and art in his signature vibrant style. Next on the journey is Ballyhack, a quaint village with a deep maritime heritage only 6km away, before riding 4.5km inland to the evocative Dunbrody Abbey, a medieval ruin steeped in history. After a fulfilling day of taking in some wonderful sights, cycle 15km along steep terrain before enjoying a well-earned rest at Brandon House Hotel, known for its comfort, views, and welcoming charm.

Day 2: Castles, Coastlines, and Fabulous Food

Refreshed and inspired, your second day takes you 23km down to Wellington Bridge and along the Norman Way, a 19km heritage route showcasing the legacy of the Norman settlers in Wexford hundreds of years ago. At Kilmore Quay, head towards Wexford town, taking in the scenery until you see the stunning Johnstown Castle around 19km from Kilmore Quay. Take a breath and learn about the castle’s history through a guided tour and explore the beautifully landscaped gardens before jumping back on the bike.

Roll 6.5km along into Wexford town, where you can go along the water’s edge, stop for a bite to eat in one of the highly rated restaurants the area has to offer, before settling into Whites of Wexford Hotel where Timmy stayed, or one of the many other accommodations ready to welcome you.

Day 3: Seals, Sand, and a Colourful Surprise in Ballycanew

Begin day 3 with a tranquil harbour cruise, giving your legs extra rest. During the boat ride, you can catch sight of playful seals basking along the coast, making it an unforgettable experience for any nature lover. After you get rid of your sea legs, cycle 11km to the iconic Curracloe Beach, famed for its expansive dunes and cinematic scenery in movies like Saving Private Ryan.

En route to Gorey from Curracloe , something truly unexpected may catch your eye just like it did with Timmy – in Ballycanew discover a statue of a vibrant man beside an equally colourful bicycle (almost looks like a tribute to the man himself).

That evening, you can find rest and reflection in Gorey which is 8km from Ballycanew, staying in the Amber Springs Hotel & Spa like Timmy or choose somewhere different to lay your head.

Day 4: Cliff Walks and Sweet Treats to End a Whirlwind Tour

On the final leg of your Wexford journey, be sure to go into Gorey for a deeper look before setting out on the Cahore Cliff Walk (18km from Gorey), a breathtaking trail offering sweeping views of the Irish coastline. Be sure to celebrate the end of your tour with a classic Wexford treat, ice cream topped with local strawberries, a sweet and fitting end to a colourful county adventure.
