Nutrition, Health & Pre-competition Workshops for Young Athletes
Athlete Life Development aims to help athletes of all levels maximise their potential in sport and life. On 4th January we will host a day of interactive workshops for sportspeople of all sports in Adamstown, Co. Wexford. Facilitated by experienced practitioners this is an ideal way to start 2016 for aspiring athletes of all levels.
Nutrition and your health - an introduction for young athletes and their parents - 11am to 12.30pm, €3 per person
This workshop facilitated Dr Elizabeth Egan (BSc, PhD) and Jennifer Higgins (BSc) is designed for 11-15 year olds (and their parents/ coaches) from any sport this workshop will cover basic nutrition, injury prevention and looking after your health in an interactive and participant-orientated way.
Dealing with pre-competition nerves - 1pm to 3pm, €5 per person
Mark Rogers (MSc, BSc) will facilitate this workshop for athletes from any sport aged 13 upwards. Aimed to empower atheltes and develop strategies to cope with pre-competition nerves. Covering practical tips that can help you use pre-competition anxiety to your advantage this is an ideal workshop to help sportspeople maximise their performance in 2016.
Steeplechase: The Basics 3.30pm to 5pm (free of charge)
Aimed at track and field athletes or anyone else who would like to try the event this is an ideal opportunity to learn about training for steeplechase and trying some practical exercises. Practical workshop - participants should dress for mild exercise.
