Wexford’s Walled Town Medieval Day
Wexford Town’s medieval past comes to life during the Wexford Walled Town Day, a family-friendly celebration of the town’s historic walls and heritage.
Taking place on Saturday, 15 August 2026, the free event will fill the green area behind Westgate Tower and Heritage Centre. The day will also mark the official launch of National Heritage Week in Wexford.
Bring the family and enjoy an afternoon celebrating the stories, landmarks and layers of history that have shaped Wexford Town.
Go Beyond the Public Rooms at Wells House
Go Beyond the Public Rooms at Wells HouseStep behind the scenes with ‘Beyond the Public Rooms at Wells House‘, a unique guided tour that grants visitors access to areas of the house that are rarely open to the public.
Along the way, you’ll hear stories of the people who once called Wells House home and take a closer look at the architecture, details and history held within its walls.

Meet the Stormin’ Normans at Enniscorthy Castle
Travel back 800 years and experience life inside Enniscorthy Castle with the Stormin’ Normans.
Created with younger visitors in mind, this lively experience brings the castle’s Norman story to life through costumes, characters and tales from medieval Wexford. Children can meet Norman soldiers, dress in period clothing and hear some of the more surprising (and sometimes gruesome!) stories of castle life.

Walk the Vinegar Hill Battlefield
Stand where one of the defining battles of the 1798 Rebellion took place during a guided tour of the Vinegar Hill battlefield.
Expert guides will share the stories of the people involved, explain how the battle unfolded and explore its lasting place in Irish history.
More than two centuries later, Vinegar Hill remains an important part of Wexford’s story. Walking the site offers a powerful way to understand the events of 1798 and the experiences of those who stood on the hill.
Celebrate Heritage Crafts at Ferns Castle
Celebrate Ireland’s living craft traditions at the Craft Fair at Ferns Castle on Saturday, 15 August from 11am to 4pm.
Set within the ruins of the 13th-century Norman castle, the fair will showcase traditional skills and handmade crafts, while highlighting the importance of protecting these traditions for future generations.
Entry is free and all are welcome.
