Sea Shanties with The High C’s at Enniscorthy Castle
Heritage Week Event in Enniscorthy Castle on the 16th of August at 3pm to 4.30pm
As part of Heritage Week 2026, “The High C’s” will perform in Enniscorthy Castle in our “Water’s of Wexford” Exhibition, bringing the sounds and stories of Wexford’s maritime past to life. Enjoy a lively and authentic celebration of traditional sea shanties, local history, and the enduring legacy of the county’s seafaring communities in this unique exhibition setting.
“The High C’s” are a sea shanty group from Rosslare Harbour, Co. Wexford, dedicated to preserving and celebrating Ireland’s rich maritime musical and cultural heritage. This community-based vocal and instrumental group currently has 15 members.
Originally brought together by a shared love of singing, the group found a passion for sea shanties inspired by their close connection to the sea. Many members are descendants of seafaring families who sailed the world’s oceans, fished the local coastline, or worked in and around Rosslare Harbour. Their performances weave together traditional songs, local history, and storytelling, keeping Wexford’s maritime heritage alive.
