Irish National Opera presents Verdi’s La traviata

Live at the National Opera House, Irish National Opera’s new production of La traviata stars soprano Amanda Woodbury as Violetta, the young woman who defies convention for the sake of true love.

Violetta, a high-spirited, popular courtesan. Alfredo, her devoted but naive lover. The rural bliss they choose is shattered by fear of scandal. When their love reasserts itself, she is already on her deathbed. Opera’s most moving reunion.

The critically acclaimed cast also includes tenor Mario Chang as Alfredo and baritone Brett Polegato as Alfredo’s father Giorgio Germont. Verdi’s emotionally charged score, which includes instantly recognisable favourites like “Brindisi” and the hauntingly beautiful “Addio del passato” is conducted by Killian Farrell.

La traviata is directed by Olivia Fuchs and features the Irish National Opera and Irish National Opera chorus.

Sung in Italian with English surtitles.
