Thunderblender is a Brussels based jazz/improv trio led by Irish saxophonist Sam Comerford. Thunderblender combines adventurous free improvisation, beautiful moments and heavy grooves, tied together in long-form compositions inspired by artists like Tim Berne and Henry Threadgill. It features three of the most exciting young musicians on the European scene, all awarded the "Toots Thielemans Award" in recent years. In the summer of 2017 the trio blew away the jury at the Concours Tremplin Jazz d’Avignon, awarding Sam the prize for best soloist. Their debut EP, "Last Minute Panic" was released in October 2017 on Honolulu Records.

Sam Comerford (IE) - tenor and bass saxophone, compositions  -   Sam (“Outright explosive” - Jazzenzo) plays in groups such as European jazz quintet Aerie, bass sax/drums duo Insufficient Funs, mathjazz quintet Umbra, and Hendrik Lasure’s Warm Bad. He has represented Ireland twice at the 12 Points Festival, and for two years in Guillaume Orti’s European Saxophone Ensemble.

 Hendrik Lasure (BE) - piano  -   Born in Bruges in 1997, Hendrik Lasure is best known as one half of piano/drums duo SCHNTZL, who released their critically acclaimed debut album on De Werf records in 2016. Currently working on a piano solo with tape echo, he composed and performed in theatre play Vanish Beach. In 2018 he will release an album with Warm Bad (Warm Bath), a septet featuring three guitars.

 Jens Bouttery (BE) - drums, bass synth  -  

One of the most in demand drummers in and out of Belgium, Jens plays in groups ranging from jazz and pop to experimental theatre, such as Jens Maurits Orchestra, Les Chroniques de l'Inutile, Geroezemoes, Llop and Jef Neve's "Spirit Control".  Co-founder of new Brussels label ~suite.
