Write By The Sea, a festival of writing and reading will take place for the second time in Kilmore Quay, Co Wexford from Saturday September 30th to Sunday October 1st 2017, after an opening reception on Friday, September 29th. The theme of this year’s festival is Our Island Heritage, an appropriate choice given that the Saltee Islands lie a mere three miles offshore from Kilmore Quay. The Write By The Sea Festival will focus on delivering a stimulating and entertaining programme of workshops, readings, conversation, and interviews. The festival will include a special writing competition based on the festival’s theme, and the RTE Radio1 programme Seascapes have once again agreed to broadcast the winning entry. Write By The Sea 2017 will also host a Festival Club, which will combine music, song and drama. Other fringe events include yoga, meditation walks along the sea shore, and a-room-to-write facility. Kilmore Quay is already recognised as an inspirational location for creative people across all Arts genres, and Write By The Sea is intended to reinforce and develop that. The festival will appeal to beginners, young and old, as well as experienced writers. Keen readers will also have the opportunity to meet and listen to authors talk about their work.
