Restaurants Supporting Local Producers

While visiting Wexford on this year’s much-anticipated staycation, explore Wexford’s food producers which take a strong seat in Ireland’s overall food and drink industry. Make a break for it and indulge and rediscover Irish produce right on our doorstep.

As one of Ireland’s top-producing counties, there’s an abundance of quality restaurants located across county Wexford – many of which source their ingredients from the variety of landscapes right on their doorstep. From foraging in the forests and fishing along the vast coastline to on-site herb gardens and locally grown fruit and vegetables, the menus listed below are created using the best of Wexford’s local food offering.

Wild & Native Seafood Restaurant

Jodie & Fergal Dempsey bring the freshest of local produce to their Seafood Restaurant. This restaurant is known for sourcing all of its seafood, meat and vegetables from County Wexford. Specialising in fresh, local seafood from the Wexford coastline, they have not forgotten about meat lovers or vegetarians.

Their delicious menu and weekly specials are carefully matched with the selection of wines that are on offer and also available is a selection of bottled beer including Wexford’s own Yellowbelly Lager.

Table Forty One

Situated on the Main Street of Gorey, Head Chef Andrew Duncan serves an endless amount of locally sourced foods, much of which are sourced through foraging and fishing here in County Wexford. Even the fussiest of eaters will be impressed with the deliciously fresh food offering.

Andrew has worked in high-end restaurants all over the world from Dubai to Canada and most recently here in Wexford at Seafield Resort Hotel & Spa, just recently opening Table Forty One has been a long-held dream turn into a reality.

The menu is simple cooking at its finest with quality flavours at the forefront. Each dish is created with a lot of thought, from his own home-cured salmon to the local cheeses served afterward. Table Forty One was awarded a prestigious Bib Gourmand in the 2021 Michelin Guide, so you know you can expect quality from this excellent restaurant.

La Côte Seafood Restaurant

A contemporary seafood restaurant in Wexford town adored by locals is sure to be a memorable dining experience.
Owner and Michelin-trained chef Paul Hynes serves traditional French and Irish dishes that look almost too good to eat. Presentation and ingredient innovation are some of Paul’s most well-known traits as a chef.

His approach to food is driven by the belief that the quality and provenance of the raw elements of each dish are instrumental in producing a fine plate of food. This has helped to secure our position as one of the best seafood restaurants in Ireland’s Ancient East. The menus are inspired by the fresh local produce foraged, gathered and harvested right here in County Wexford. Paul believes the very best raw ingredients are right on your doorstep.

The multi-award-winning restaurant has quickly established itself as a unique dining experience in Wexford.

Aldridge Lodge

Billy Whitty and Joanne Harding have built up a loyal fan base in Wexford, around Ireland and beyond for their impeccable dining experience as well as stunning accommodation. They are holders of the prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand since 2007, two AA Rosettes for food since 2016 and many other national accolades over the years.

The menus are adjusted daily on the basis of what ingredients are available as every dish is fresh and made to order. They have an array of producers on their supplier’s list and are huge advocates for supporting the local food producers within the county and surrounds. It is a real gem here in Wexford.

The flavour and presentation of the food speak for itself and the drinks list is a little snapper too. We recommend pretty much everything but if you’re around on the weekend you can’t beat their Sunday lunch. A rather popular spot so be sure to book well in advance.

La Marine Bistro

La Marine Bistro is a French bistro-style brasserie located within Kelly’s Resort Hotel. Chef Eugene O’Callaghan and his team run a traditional French styled kitchen where there is no shortfall on flavour. There is even a vegetable house and bakery in house. Everything is made on-site using high-quality produce from County Wexford and its surrounds. Eugene is a huge fan of using seasonal produce so everything is delicious no matter when you choose to dine here.

You will find lots of classic brasserie dishes here, so indulge and make sure you order the sides. The Grain Dauphinois is the most talked-about dish on the menu! Don’t skip dessert here – they are scrumptious. With family connections in France, they have a superb wine list. The cellar is full of bottles directly imported from individual estates in France and across Europe. The beautiful zinc bar is well stocked with local beers, ciders and Irish spirits. Try and arrive early to have a walk around the hotel and admire their extensive art collection.

All in all, the variety of local produce Wexford offers to both the Irish food and drink industry, and its visitors ensures every food experience in the Sunny South-East is a mouth-watering one.
