Two Day Beginner's Woodturning Classes
The Woodturning Studio
9th & 10th October | 10am to 4.30pm
Day 1 - Spindle Turning
Learning the workings of a lathe.
Health and Safety talk.
Detailed learning of the three cuts of woodturning, bead, cove and straight cut.
Students use the three cuts to make a garden dibber.
Learn how to mount timber using a chuck and make a spinning top from this.
Use the cuts learned over the day to make stem for candle holder.
Day 2 - Face Plate Turning
Students will make base for candle holder.
Students learn the process of roughing out a bowl from wet timber.
Students make and finish a small bowl from dry timber.
All learners are encouraged to ask questions and each learner has a lathe and tools supplied for the two days.
Course starts each morning at 10am and finishes at 4pm to 4.30pm. Our next two day class is on October 9th and 10th.

The Woodturning Studio is less than an hour and a half from Waterford City and Kilkenny City.
